Yves Saint Laurent was born on August 1, 1936. He continues to be innovative, and a directional force in fashion design. IN 1957, he inherited Christian Dior's Fashion house and designed there until he opened his own fashion house in 1962. Yves Saint Laurent is highly influenced by art. He opened his own boutique chain Rive Gauche in 1966 which soon expanded to 160 branches worldwide. He launched the Left Bank Look, insiped by the students who inhabited Paris. He introduced masculine tailoring for women(tuxedos and pant-suits) in 1966. He followed this with the knickerbcker suit, then culottes, then his trouser suit.
